All trails will be groomed for skating and classic skiing. Checkpoints are located every four to nine kilometers and have radio contact, first aid, toilets, beverages, food, a campfire and friendly volunteers. There will be awards for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place skiers in each age category and event, except for the Jackrabbit Glide, which provides an award for each young skier.

Don't know what to try? The Don Allen Saskaloppet includes 2 km, 7 km, 12 km, 20 km, 38 km, and 56 km events as well as the 52-km and 77-km Kupesewin events. Good conditioning is important, but you don't have to be an expert skier to enjoy the Saskaloppet. Choose the event to match your skills:

Even the youngest skiers can take part in the fun and excitement of the Saskaloppet with our mascot, Ragnar the Raven. Hot dogs and drinks will be at Peanut Grove located near the finish line.  The Jackrabbit Glide starts and finishes at the Nut Point Campground.  Parents or chaperones are responsible for transporting Jackrabbit skiers to the start/finish line at the Campground.  Ample vehicle parking is available in a parking lot adjacent to the start/finish.

  • 7 km ORANO Lake Challenge: 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2nd
Skiers wanting to see just a bit more of Lac La Ronge can sign up for the Lake Challenge. Skiers in the 7-km Lake Challenge are welcome to stop at Peanut Grove for hotdogs and drinks before they retrace their route across the lake ice to reach the finish line.
